Monday, August 18, 2008 –The
Western Major Baseball League expansion franchise Sherwood Park Dukes’ inaugural season may have wrapped up last
Sunday with a loss in the Western Conference Championship series, but the Dukes
brought home some major hardware yesterday as the league released the 2008 WMBL
All-Star Teams and Award Winners. Leading the way all season for the Dukes, Thunder
Bay native Dan Grant led all WMBL hitters this season winning the League Batting
Title with a .403 batting average in the wood bat league. Grant (ex-University
of Northern Iowa/NCAA Division I) not only added a 1st Team All-Star
Infield Award to his wall, but also brings home the WMBL’s Most Valuable
Player Award. |

Wednesday, August 6, 2008 –The
Western Major Baseball League expansion franchise Sherwood Park Dukes needed
one extra game in Saskatoon to win their first ever playoff series three games
to one and move into the West Division title series against the reigning WMBL
Champion Okotoks Dawgs. The
Dukes went into the playoffs with the third best winning percentage in the
Western Major Baseball League, gaining home field advantage for the first round
of play versus the Saskatoon Yellow Jackets in their inaugural season in the
WMBL. |

Tuesday, July 29, 2008 –The Sherwood Park Dukes returned from Swift Current early this morning after a final regular season road swing that produced a strong 4-2 record but the Dukes still needed help in order to secure home field advantage through the first round of the Western Major Baseball League playoffs. The Dukes started their road trip with a 7-6 near comeback loss against West Division rivals, the Okotoks Dawgs, then beat the Lethbridge Bulls 8-4 on Friday and 3-1 on Saturday afternoon to clinch second place in their division. |

Sherwood Park Dukes may have given up a late-inning comeback last night in Saskatoon,
but thanks to a strong July campaign which saw the Dukes win ten of their last
12 games and a loss by the Medicine Hat Mavericks last night, the Dukes have
secured a spot in the 2008 Western Major Baseball League Playoffs in their
inaugural season in the WMBL as an expansion franchise. |

Mavericks and split their two-game home series against their Western Major

– The Sherwood Park Dukes hot start cooled off this past week due to
three rain outs and a loss against the always tough defending Western Major Baseball
League Champion Okotoks Dawgs. The Dukes traveled to Moose Jaw on the weekend just
to sit and watch the rain come down, washing out two games against the Miller
Express. The Dukes then returned home to take on the Okotoks Dawgs on Monday
night at Centennial Park #9 in Sherwood Park, only to suffer their worst loss
of their inaugural season. |

June 4, 2008 – The
Sherwood Park Dukes, the newest franchise in the Western Major Baseball League,
suffered the first loss of its inaugural season tonight at the hands of perennial
contenders, the Lethbridge Bulls. The Dukes led the game twice before giving up
three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. Sherwood Park came within one run
in the top of nine but could not find a way to score again.
